Canadian University Affiliation and Federation Agreements

Collection of Canadian University Federation and Affiliation agreement. Gathered as part of SSHRC Insight Development Grant. Part of project rationale: The concepts of university federation and affiliation in Canada are not well understood, even within academic environments. There is a general notion that smaller institutions, when they federate or affiliate with a larger university, hold in abeyance any secular degree-granting privileges they may have previously exercised under their respective provincial charters. Distinctions between federation and affiliation are less clearly appreciated, however, and the degree of autonomy each entails are not uniform between universities in the same province, and even less so across provincial boundaries.本数据集为加拿大大学联合与附属协议合集，其采集工作隶属于加拿大社会科学与人文研究理事会（Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council, SSHRC）洞察发展资助项目。本项目的立项依据如下：即便在学术圈层内，加拿大的大学联合与附属关系概念也未得到充分认知。学界普遍存在一种认知误区：小型院校若与大型大学建立联合或附属关系，将暂时搁置其此前依据所在省章程所行使的世俗学位授予权限。然而，人们对联合与附属关系之间的区别认知模糊，且同一省份内不同院校各自所赋予的自主权限并不统一，跨省份的权限差异则更为显著。
