Laboratory, operational, and SCADA datasets for anaerobic co-digestion at the Muscatine, IA Water Resource Recovery Facility

These datasets were collected by the staff at the Muscatine, IA Water Resource Recovery Facility or by the automated supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system at the facility over the time period of 2020-2023, with minimal pre-processing, as described in the associated materials. The facility co-digests industrial organic wastes along with primary sludge and thickened waste activated sludge. This is the largest dataset on biogas production at a full-scale facility to our knowledge, and the SCADA dataset provides biogas flows and operational conditions on a minute time scale. We used these data to predict biogas flows as a surrogate for co-digestion monitoring using traditional statistical models and machine learning models.
