Passive acoustic monitoring of Swift Parrots in Tasmania

This dataset contains daily detection and non-detection records of Swift Parrot (Lathamus discolor) using Passive Acoustic Monitoring in Lutruwita / Tasmania from December 2021 to March 2026. Acoustic recorders were deployed to survey for the Critically Endangered Swift Parrot in public forests across Lutruwita. Data was collected from sunrise to sunset using various recorder types. The data was analysed to detect the species. Most of the dataset was processed using this automatic method to identify apparent swift parrot calls. All apparent detections were then reviewed by an expert to confirm Swift Parrot calls. The dataset will be updated after each future breeding season.
