资源简介:
Objective: One core value of neuropsychology is to demonstrate continued growth and development with respect to science, education, and clinical application. The current study sought to identify opportunities to advance the field through a qualitative analysis of insights from a large, diverse group of brain-behavior experts. Method: Ninety-four guests from the open access science-based podcast, Navigating Neuropsychology, responded to the standardized question, “If you could improve one thing about the field of neuropsychology, what would that be?” Interview responses were audio-recorded, transcribed, and analyzed. A codebook was developed and refined, and two independent coders systematically analyzed the transcripts using an iterative process. A thematic analysis approach identified recommendations for growth within the field of neuropsychology. Results: Six major themes emerged: (1) Improve cultural responsivity, sensitivity to context, and access to care; (2) Conduct methodologically rigorous research and translate it to clinical practice; (3) Embrace and integrate appropriate digital technologies; (4) Emphasize interdisciplinary and patient-centered communication; (5) Advance training in neuropsychology; (6) Expand the scope and roles of neuropsychologists. Conclusions: Recommendations from a large group of brain-behavior experts highlight critical areas for growth, which may serve as a foundation to advance neuropsychology. Future efforts should focus on policy changes, advocacy, training program development, and further research to meet the evolving needs of the field.
