Interdependent self-construal promotes prosocial risky behavior: The role of reputation concern

A harmonious human society advocates prosocial risky behavior. However, previous research has focused only on the situational differences and social impacts of prosocial risky behavior, neglecting the role of cultural shaping. Self-construal reflects cultural conceptions of the self. Currently, it remains unclear how self-construal differences manifest in prosocial risky behavior and what mechanisms underlie these differences. Drawing on both trait and stateful perspectives, this study examined the impact of self-construal on prosocial risky behavior and its underlying mechanisms.
