Expression data in BEAS-2B cells and HCT116 cells incubated with copper(II) for different times

Copper induced stress is known to involve an enhanced oxidant production. This event could be accompanied by an antioxidant response. However, additional processes transcriptionally regulated might participate in the protective response against the metal ions. We used microarrays to detail the global programme of gene expression due to the copper overload and outline the cell processes mostly involved in the toxicity of the metal ions in two cell lines, BEAS-2B cells and HCT116 cells. BEAS-2B cells and HCT116 were plated at 60-80% confluence and they were incubated with 800 µM CuSO4 and 1400 µM CuSO4 respectively, dissolved in DMEM for 0, 2, 4, 6, 12 and 18 hours.
