资源简介:
After the battle of Namirrue we had to take over a German hospital – this is Namirrue a most forbidding spot.” Landscape view of rocky hills rising out of flat plains. The battle of Namirrue took place on 22 July 1918 and saw heavy fighting between the King’s African Rifles of the Fitzcol, the column commanded by Lt. Col. Fitzgerald, and the Schutztruppe, the German forces, in Portuguese East Africa. ❧ This image is from an album chronicling the war time experiences of Archibald Clive Irvine (1893-1974) in Portuguese East Africa with the Royal Army Medical Corps. During the war he met with missionaries in East Africa which in turn lead to him joining the mission at Tumutumu and then establishing the mission at Chogoria, both in Kenya.
