资源简介:
Intellectual slavery. Culture of subservience
Dr. Hassan AssiAcademic and Researcher in Anthropology
Slavery is a system in which people are forced to work without freedom and without pay, while others earn money from their work or otherwise benefit from it. Throughout history, slavery has taken different forms and scopes, but the common feature is that free people are transformed into a commodity to be bought and sold. Because they are not considered independent citizens, they do not enjoy any legal, political or social rights. Once the first generation is enslaved, this condition can be passed on to their children. Slavery has been banned since 1948 according to the United Nations Declaration of Human Rights. The Declaration states that "no one shall be enslaved or enslaved; slavery and the slave trade in all their forms shall be prohibited." This prohibition is embedded in the legislation of all UN Member States, but it is not always respected.
