Diversity of bacterial endophytes in Lycoris radiata

High–throughput sequencing shows that diversity of bacterial endophyte varies in different plant tissues of Lycoris radiate. However, factors driving tissue–specific distribution of bacterial endophytes are largely unknown. Our study demonstrates Amaryllidaceae alkaloids constrain bacterial endophyte assemblages in different tissues of L. radiate, which may be due to the medicinal ability of these alkaloids. Inversely, as potential candidates, some bacterial endophytes may promote valuable secondary metabolite accumulations in medicinal plants.
