Ralstonia solanacearum is a major plant pathogen that causes bacterial wilt disease of over 200 species, primarily in tropical and subtropical area. It causes a wilt disease with deadly effects in many economically important crops like tomato, potato, ginger, and banana. However, no strain from Rhizoma Kaempferiae had been sequenced. We therefore sequenced the R. solanacearum type strain YC45, which was isolated from a wilted Rhizoma Kaempferiae, in Yangchun city, Guangdong province, China, in 20-July-2006.Y45 belongs to PhylotypeⅠ, historically race 4, biovar4. The information provided by this complete genome sequence here will facilitate future studies on its pathogenesis.
