Diarrhea is one of the leading causes of mortality and morbidity in children under 5 years of age in low-income countries, and rotavirus (RV) is the second most common pathogen. The etiology of diarrheal infections disrupts the gut microbiome and could have implications for health outcomes. Here, we aim to investigate the microbiota of children with acute diarrhea with or without rotavirus infection in Gabon.
