However, estimates indicate that this diversity is even higher, ranging 80-170 thousand species. The spiders are distributed throughout the world and has won all environments except the air and the open sea. According to Coddington & Levi (1991), Araneae is currently one of the megadiverse orders whose taxonomic classification is best-understood. The taxonomic and phylogenetic knowledge Araneae has grown considerably over the past three decades.
