NRS-19537 | Flood damage registers for New South Wales lines

This series consists of two volumes of Flood Damage Registers, detailing damage to railway lines due to excess rain. The registers cover both suburban and country lines, and are arranged under the name of each rail line, with chronological entries following.Entries are either handwritten or typed, and there are also a small number of hand drawn diagrams to help illustrate damage. Each entry lists the title of the official to which the damage was reported, the date, a reference number, geographical location of the damage, and the type of incident (e.g. rock fall, water over the line, flooding of tracks, track washed out, scouring, slips). Most entries are in point form, but there are some longer, more detailed, reports relating to more significant flooding.Custody HistoryFrom 1955 until 2000 the State Rail Authority of New South Wales maintained an 'in house archives' consisting of the archival records of the Authority, its predecessor agencies and the private railway companies taken over by the government. The date ranges of the records were from 1849 until 2000. When the decision was made to close the 'State Rail Archives' the parts of the collection that were required as State archives were transferred to the State Records Authority of NSW. Those record series were incorporated into the State Records series system of archives control and were re-numbered.This series was formerly part of the State Rail Archives collection. It may have been viewed in the State Rail Archives as series R429 and could have been previously cited as such in notes by researchers at State Rail Archives or in publications or unpublished works.

保管沿革
1955年至2000年期间，新南威尔士州铁路管理局（State Rail Authority of New South Wales）设立内部档案馆，保存该局、其前身机构及政府接管的私营铁路公司的档案藏品，档案时间跨度为1849年至2000年。当决定关停州铁路档案馆时，馆藏中需作为州级档案留存的部分被移交至新南威尔士州档案管理局（State Records Authority of NSW）。该部分档案序列被纳入州档案管理体系并重新编号。
本数据集原属州铁路档案馆馆藏，曾以R429号档案序列在州铁路档案馆中被查阅，此前州铁路档案馆的研究人员或在相关出版物、未刊著作中，亦曾以该编号对其进行引注。
