The vertical profile atmospheric black carbon (BC) concentration dataset primarily contains atmospheric black carbon concentration data across different altitude layers. Black carbon is a fine particulate matter generated by the incomplete combustion of organic matter, which typically exists as suspended particles in the atmosphere. The distribution of black carbon concentrations reflects the degree of atmospheric pollution and the characteristics of pollutant diffusion and sedimentation in different altitude atmospheric layers. This dataset is of great significance for research on air pollution, climate change, regional atmospheric quality, and other related fields. This dataset is derived from the "Polarview-1" stratospheric airship platform of the Second Tibetan Plateau Scientific Expedition and Research (STEP) program. The airship is equipped with various atmospheric observation devices to conduct in-situ measurements of atmospheric components. From August 20 to October 2, 2024, the airship, equipped with a black carbon concentration detector, collected atmospheric black carbon concentration data at Shuanghu County, Nagqu Region, northern Tibet (88.842° E, 33.192° N, altitude 4920 m). During data processing, researchers calculated the daily average values for the data collected each observation day. This dataset provides valuable data for studying the distribution, sedimentation, and transport pathways of black carbon in the plateau atmosphere, and is of great value for assessing its impacts on the climate system and environmental health. Through in-depth analysis of the vertical profile concentrations of black carbon, researchers can reveal the temporal and spatial characteristics of pollution sources, transport mechanisms, and potential impacts on radiative feedback in snow- and ice-covered areas of the plateau.
