Using text search, sequence assembly and direct RNA sequencing to enrich and extend the herbicide target and herbicide detoxification gene sets in sugarcane. Extending the Herbicide target and detoxification gene set in sugarcane

The scientific literature was mined for novel sugarcane herbicide targets and herbicide detoxification genes. Identified genes were mapped to Sorghum orthologues which were use to assemble sugarcane transcripts. Capture primers were generated from these transcripts, which were used to bait RNAs from the sugarcane cultivars N22 and SP80-3288. Transcripts were sequenced with MinION and validated by structure modelling.
