Atopic dermatitis (AD) is Chronic inflammatory skin disorder. The relative abundance of Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) in the skin microbiome is associated with exacerbation of inflammation in AD. Staphylococcus epidermidis (S. epidermidis) is commensals on human skin and inhibit growth of S. aureus. Delftia acidovorans (D. acidovorans) was often detected from skin of patients with AD in skin microbiome analysis. And we found that D. acidovorans culture supernatant inhibited the growth of S. epidermidis, but not that of S. aureus. In this project, we address the inhibitory mechanism of D. acidovorans against growth of S. epidermidis by analyzing gene expression in S. epidermidis in response to the D. acidovorans culture supernatant.
