Effect of fishmeal replacement with poultry byproduct meal (PBM) on European seabass intestinal microbiota.

In this study, the effect of partial substitution of fishmeal (FM) with poultry byproduct meal (PBM), alone or in combination with insect meal or exuviae meal, was tested in European seabass. Three isoproteic and isolipidic diets were formulated: a control diet containing 20% FM, and two test diets in which 50% of FM was replaced by 20% or 25% of PBM with the supplementation of the insect meal or exuviae meal, respectively. The modulatory effect of the diet on gut microbiota was evaluated by high-throughput sequencing of V4 region of 16S rRNA gene.
