Rhodococcus erythropolis AV96 (proposed name) is a plant-associated bacterium isolated from the rhizosphere of Salix atrocinerea (black willow) growing on a highly arsenic contaminated area in Asturias, Spain. The bacterium has the capacity to reduce arsenic and to promote plant growth, and therefore could potentially be used in phytoremediation applications.
