Background This deposit contains an archive of the identifications of the posts from the One and Done subreddit that were used for the analysis of choice and circumstances leading to stopping at one child. The deposit also contains two python scripts that were used to capture the initial data from the Wayback Machine, and to restructure the selected posts into a format suitable for qualitative analysis. The choice to use Internet Archive Wayback Machine was specifically to aid with reproducibility of the results. PostsReddit posts from the 'One and Done' subreddit, made in 2024, were collected the Wayback Machine using the attached script called OAD_cr_wayback.py At the time of publication, there were 1,398 posts from 2024 available on the Wayback Machine. https://web.archive.org/web/20240615000000*/reddit.com/r/oneanddone The posts formed the initial sample of the study on the choices and circumstances that lead to having one child. Not all posts were used in the analysis, as some were excluded due to being deleted, or as the topic of the post was assessed at not being directly relevant. The csv file contains the post identification numbers of the posts, in addition to the broad topic category it covered, and flag of whether the post was 1) deleted, 2) excluded from the analysis, 3) included in the analysis. There were 351 posts included in the final analytical sample. The post identification numbers can be appended to the end of the url https://www.reddit.com/r/oneanddone/comments/ to bring up the posts and associated comments. For example if the post id is 123abc it can be added to the url path as: https://www.reddit.com/r/oneanddone/comments/123abc to bring up the post. Data collection approved and conducted in accordance with ANU Human Research Ethics H/2025/0363 Some posts that were valid at the time of the publication in November 2026, may in the future no longer be accessible. Reddit users are able to delete their posts or comments at any point. As the urls are 'live' when loading a url it is possible that the post itself, or a comment within the post, has since been deleted. The second script OAD_anonymise_html.py was used to anonymise the users and restructure the data to make it suitable for qualitative analysis. It written to run on the html files of the associated posts. The html files themselves were then deleted leaving only the hashed anonymised txt files for analysis.
