Cline&Laroque_2024_Native_Veg_Transect

This is the data set collected in the summer of 2023 across the Black soil zone of Saskatchewan. Samples were collected from 6 sites across a transect from native aspen copses. Transect distances were based on the average aspen tree's height in the copse. In the copse, samples were collected under four random aspen and shrubs. At the edge of the copse, four transects extended to the north, east, south, and west into the surrounding agricultural fields. Each sampling location had samples of the leaf, fibric, humic (LFH) layer and the top 60 cm of mineral soil (divided by horizon) collected. These samples were then run through a SoliTOC cube. Carbon storage was calculated by multiplying the thickness of each layer, by the carbon composition and bulk density.
