This project investigates the impact of dietary casein hydrolysate (CEH) on gut microbiota composition of aged mice with Salmonella Typhimurium-induced colitis. Intestinal contents were collected from C57BL/6J mice on day 7 post-infection, immediately stored at -80 deg C until DNA extraction. Total microbial DNA was extracted from the preserved intestinal contents using a commercial fecal genomic DNA extraction kit (AU46111 96, BioTeke). The V3-V4 region of the bacterial 16S rRNA gene was amplified with universal primers 341F/805R and sequenced on an Illumina NovaSeq 6000 platform (paired-end 2 x 250 bp). The dataset enables comparative analysis of microbial community structure, diversity, and CEH-induced enrichment of lactic acid-producing bacteria during colitis recovery in aged hosts.
