Wildfire Risk Assessment Guide

Two data subsets were developed to assign risk values to individual WUI homes: 1. index values for plant communities, defensible space and structural characteristics; 2. BEHAVE fire prediction system estimates for rate of spread and fireline intensity for dry fuel conditions in each of the southern fuel models, modified for different defensible space clearings. The first subset was developed to enable landowners to easily rate their properties for fire risk; the second subset was derived to validate the assigned ratings in the first subset.
