Transcriptomics analysis of low-dose ethanol treatment of male Aedes aegypti, Liverpool

This project data represents comparative transcritpomic analysis of male, laboratory Aedes aegypti mosquitoes of the Liverpool strain. A group of males was fed on 5% ethanol for 48 hours prior to receiving a sterilizing x-ray dose, and compared to males fed on water prior to sterilization. A group of non-irradiated, ethanol fed mosquitoes were also compared to a group of non-irradiated, water fed mosquitoes. This data is revelant for any researchers interested in Sterile Insect Technique, and minimizing the detrimental effects of radiation that are required to produce sterile, competitive males. This data also may serve as a resource for other differential gene expression studies related to potential radio-protective effects of ethanol on radiation exposure.
