A strain of Faecalibacterium prausnitzii was isolated from the large intestine (feces) of a healthy full-term child, born naturally, who did not receive antibiotics. The strain was isolated to study strain diversity in Russia, a candidate strain for inclusion in a consortium of strains for the development of new drugs - metabiotics (new generation probiotics).
