Metagenomic analysis of decomposed leaf litter

This study focuses on the metagenomic analysis of soil organic matter derived from the decomposition of leaf litter collected from two different depths (6 inches and 4 inches) under the ground within a controlled greenhouse facility at Ramjas College, University of Delhi, India. The primary objective is to investigate the microbial communities involved in the decomposition process and their role in nutrient cycling. Through shotgun metagenomic sequencing, we aim to assess microbial diversity, analyze community composition, explore microbial interactions, and identify functional potentials contributing to organic matter breakdown. This study will provide valuable insights into the microbial consortia responsible for leaf litter decomposition and their significance in maintaining soil health and ecosystem functioning.
