Success rate of transcranial Doppler scanning of cerebral arteries at different transtemporal windows in healthy elderly individuals

This study measured the success rates of applying transcranial Doppler (TCD) scanning at Middle, Posterior, and Anterior temporal windows (MTW, PTW & ATW) in the elderly subjects. A hand-held 1.6-MHz pulsed-wave TCD transducer was used to search for flow signals from cerebral arteries at MTW, PTW, and ATW locations. Physical attributes of the head, including head circumference and the distance between tragus (‘tragus-to-tragus arc length’), were also measured for exploring the associations with successful rate.本研究评估了经颅多普勒超声（transcranial Doppler, TCD）在老年受试者颞中窗（MTW）、颞后窗（PTW）与颞前窗（ATW）的扫描成功率。研究采用手持式1.6MHz脉冲波经颅多普勒探头，在上述三个颞窗位置探查脑动脉的血流信号；同时测量了受试者头部的头围与耳屏间弧长（tragus-to-tragus arc length）等物理属性，以探究其与扫描成功率的关联。
