Ehrlichia muris subsp. eauclairensis str. Wisconsin is a novel Ehrlichia species that causes human ehrlichioses in Minnesota or Wisconsin. This strain is culture isolated from infected human blood. This strain also causes fatal infection of laboratory mice, therefore, can be used as a disease model in mice. The availability of the complete genome sequences will be greatly advance the study of pathogenesis of human ehrlichioses.
