资源简介:
The purpose of this series is to record statistics impacting upon water catchment in Broken Hill and district. The tables included in the series are as follows: Rainfall Observations at Umberumberka, Silverton, Black Hill, Acacia Vale, Stephen's Creek, McCullock Park and Maybell. There is a separate table for each location. Each shows daily totals in inches and fractions of an inch and are added to indicate monthly totals and the number of days on which rain fell. Frequently the figure ‘0’ is recorded. This presumably meant that rain fell in the district but in negligible quantity. Contents of the various reservoirs including the Town Service Reservoir, the Mine, Mica Street, Umberumberka and Stephens' Creek Reservoirs. These tables appear to be reference tables showing the capacity of each reservoir to correspond with the depth of the water contained in it. The results of two surveys of the Umberumberka Reservoir in 1938 and 1941 indicate capacity in gallons at depths of 794' to 839' and 797" to 839' respectively. There were similar surveys at Stevens Creek in April 1907 and August 1920 in which at various contours the areas in square feet and the volume in gallons is calculated. Daily evaporation levels are recorded for Umberumberka Reservoir from January 1924 until May, 1943 and for Stephen's Creek Reservoir from July, 1933 until May, 1943. The total monthly evaporation levels are shown together with progressive annual evaporation figures. Daily Levels of the Umberumberka and Stephens Creek Reservoirs are recorded with the contents in gallons and intake figures from July, 1916 until 1943 in the former case and until 31 December, 1942 (when pumping ceased) in the latter reservoir. Statistics record the quantity of water pumped each month at Umberumberka and Stephens Creek from 1915 until 1939. Custody NoteThis series is held in Broken Hill Library
