We find that PDK4 knockdown mimics the effect of TGFb in HASMCs, inducing SMC glycolysis and contractile gene expressions. Wherase, ACSS2 knockdown decreases glycolysis and contractile gene expressions. Human aortic primary smooth muscle cells (HASMCs) were treated with 20 nM PDK4 or ACSS2 siRNAs every on day 0 and day 4, with medium changed every other day.. RNA were collected at day 7.
