The process of synthesizing CeF3 and CeF4 by fluoride decomposition is described. CeF3 was synthesized with CeO2 as raw material and NH4HF2 as fluorination agent. The reaction temperature, raw material ratio and other conditions were explored, and the best synthesis route was determined through a series of experiments.
