In depth characterisation of the impact of wheat bran on the human gut microbiome

Using 16S rRNA gene sequencing on an Illumina platform an in depth characterisation of wheat bran colonisation by the human faecal microbiota of 10 different individuals was performed in vitro. Our results indicate that the bran associated and the luminal micro-environment diverge in the microbial community they are hosting.
