Newspapers coverage on Turkish military counterterrorist measuresNewspaper SelectionThe qualitative text analysis considered five national newspapers in Turkey: Hürriyet, Daily Sabah, Anadolu Agency, Cumhuriyet, and Bianet. This selection ensures coverage across the ideological spectrum and readership prominence.Article IdentificationFor each outlet, approximately 150 articles were analysed. This threshold was selected to align with the highest perceived risk while maintaining sample consistency.Articles were primarily collected through LexisNexis platform, supplemented by searches on the newspapers’ official websites when necessary.Keywords used for identification were “Syria” and “Terrorism.”The sample period corresponds to periods of heightened terrorism intensity, prioritising 2016–2018. If sufficient coverage was not available, the period was adjusted forward.Selection was chronologically prioritised, starting from August 2016, until 150 articles were reached per outlet.Theoretical Rationale for CodingSix main frames were identified. These frames are non-mutually exclusive and may appear simultaneously within articles.
