Whole Transcriptome Analysis in the Brainstem in Shrew Model of Postoperative Nausea and Vomiting:

Postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) is a serious and frequent complication in patients after they emerge from general anesthesia. However, the central nervous system mechanisms that underlie the effects of these emetic stimuli on the development of PONV have not been fully elucidated. The aims of this study were to determine changes in genome-wide gene expression (i.e., whole-transcriptome analysis) in the nucleus of the solitary tract in a musk shrew PONV model, to elucidate molecular genetic mechanisms of the development of PONV.
