The Complete Mitochondrial Genome of Eirene lacteoides

This study reports the first complete linear mitogenome of Eirene lacteoides Kubota and Horita, 1992, which is 15,009 bp in length with an AT content of 68.11%, featuring inverted terminal repeat (ITR) sequences that may function as telomeres. It showed a conserved gene order (ITR-pseudo cox1-rrnL-cox2-trnW-atp8-atp6-cox3-trnM-nad2-nad5-rrnS-nad6-nad3-nad4l-nad1-nad4-cob-cox1-ITR) consistent with other Leptothecata. Phylogenetic analysis revealed that E. lacteoidesis closest to a Aequoreidae species, while its congener Eirene ceylonensis clustered with two Campanulariidae specie, indicating the polyphyletic nature of Eirenidae.
