Quasigeoid 2016 of the Federal Republic of Germany (updated 2023)

As a grid file, the quasigeoid model of the Federal Republic of Germany represents the elevation reference area of the national survey over the reference ellipsoid of the 1980 Geodetic Reference System (GRS80). It is available for the area of the exclusive economic zone Germany and enables the transformation between satellite geodetically determined ellipsoidal heights in ETRS89 and nivellitically determined physical heights (DHHN2016) with cm accuracy. The geoid model is delivered for the entire area of the FRG or in five sub-regions. These sub-regions include: Northeast: Berlin, Brandenburg, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia; South: Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria; West: Hesse, Nodrhein-Westfalen, Rhineland-Palatinate, Saarland; Northwest: Bremen, Hamburg, Lower Saxony, Schleswig-Holstein; Coast: Marine areas up to 55.2° north or for the area of the exclusive economic zone of Germany (North Sea). The lattice width in each model is 30“x 45” in geographical coordinates. In the context of the introduction of the Baltic Sea Chart Date 2000 (BSCD2000) as a single sea map zero throughout the Baltic Sea region, an update of the GCG2016 in the Baltic Sea area of the order of 2-3 cm was necessary, which was introduced on 4.12.2023 in the SAPOS service of the AdV. On land, the model remains unchanged.
