The effect of caloric restriction on the gene expression of Nephron Progenitor Cells (NPC) was studied. Pregnant females were subjected to either a control diet or to 70% daily caloric intake food restriction. At E18.5 the embryo kidneys were extracted and the NPCs were cell sorted and the RNA was extracted for gene expression analysis to identify changes in the gene expression of these NPC CD-1 females were mated with Six2 Cre tg/+ males. After plaque identification, the mice were randomly assigned to either a control diet or 70% daily caloric intake throughout pregnancy. At E18.5 the embryos were sacrificed and the kidneys were extracted. NPCs were FACS sorted and RNA was extracted for RNA sequencing. Each condition had 3 biological replicates.
