Los Angeles Sanitarium staff group shot, photograph, circa 1901

This image shows seven women and three men on the staff of the Los Angeles Sanitarium 315 West Third Street, Los Angeles, California, USA, circa 1901. The women are posed crouched in a large, wooden, coffin-like box with the men standing behind it weilding tools in the action of nailing the box shut. From a lot of 22 cabinet card photographs of the Los Angeles Sanitarium, located at 315 W. Third Street, and an Illinois house, circa 1901. All but the last of the images are numbered. Handwritten notes, and a typed copy, mention that the owner's great-great uncle may have owned them, because he was a designer and builder of houses. The images have curvature (said to be for stereopticons, though they are not stereoscopic photos with dual images). Overall condition is good: generally clean, except for edge rubbing and minor surface scratches.
