Root mass in the forests along two strong pollution gradients

Root mass was assessed along two strong pollution gradients caused by two copper smelters, located in different regions of the Urals (Russia) in the forest litter and upper mineral soil layer (0–20 cm) at 57 sample plots (total, 570 sample points). The roots were divided into two diameter fractions: <2.0 mm (fine roots) or >2.1 mm (coarse roots). Copper concentration values in litter are also given.本研究针对两座位于俄罗斯乌拉尔山脉不同区域的铜冶炼厂所引发的两处强污染梯度，于57个样地（总计570个采样点）的森林枯落物层及0–20 cm 矿质上层土壤中，开展了植物根系生物量的测定。将根系按直径划分为两个分级组分：直径小于2.0 mm 的细根（fine roots）以及直径大于2.1 mm 的粗根（coarse roots）。同时还提供了枯落物层中的铜浓度数据。
