资源简介:
Archaeological Assessment of Selected Sites along the Intracoastal Waterway, Charleston County, South Carolina.
Between May 24 and October 2010, Brockington and Associates, Inc., conducted intensive cultural resources survey/evaluations and GIS mapping of seven parcels and 14 archaeological localities in Charleston County, South Carolina, GIS mapping, archaeological survey, and evaluate testing was conducted for selected sites along the shores of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW) and adjoining tidal creeks. Attention was focused on determining definitively the NRHP eligible sites (38CH1531, and 38CH2352) and identifying what, if any, are being experienced by certain NRHP eligible sites within the study area (38CH259, 38CH644, 38CH134, 38CH1445, 38CH1709 and 38CH146/1048) as result of wave action along the AIWW and/or FMNF lands. The results indicate that, within the exception of, 38CH2352, all of the sites investigated in the current project are eligible for the NRHP. Of all the NRHP eligible sites, only 38CH134 and 38CH1709 are currently experiencing adverse effects from wave action along the AIWW- the main effect being the active corrosion of portion of the sites.
