Mesoscale precipitation tracking to detect tropical cyclone extreme rainfall

This is an application of Large-Scale Precipitation Tracking (LPT) to the mesoscale. The averating period is reduced to 3 h, and the spatial filter width is reduced to 0.2 deg. (two IMERG grid points). It is aimed at tracking tropical cyclone (TC) rainfall prior to, during, and after the best track period. Specifically, it can detect post-TC TC remnant and extratropical transition (ET) rainfall after the storm is no longer tracked in best track. So far it has been applied to IMERG data.
