The content of bound water on the surface of loess particles has a significant impact on the physical and engineering properties of loess, directly affecting its strength characteristics. This is crucial for slope engineering and geological disaster prevention in loess region. The formation and scale of bound water in loess are not only related to environmental temperature and pressure, but also closely related to particle size, salt cementation type, and mineral composition. In this study, we combined thermogravimetric analysis and Zeta potential testing to quantitatively and qualitatively analyze the physical characteristics of bound water in loess, and verified them using AFM experiments.
