资源简介:
Water is fundamental to our quality of life, economic growth and to the environment. With its booming economy and growing population, the South-East Queensland (SEQ) region of Australia faces increasing pressure on water resources. These pressures are compounded by the impact of climate variability and accelerating climate change. South East Queensland (SEQ) is geographically defined as the coastal river basins from the New South Wales border to the Burnett River and Mary River catchments in the north. The western boundary is formed by the Great Dividing Range water shed. Partnering for quality research The Urban Water Security Research Alliance was formed in 2007 to address South-East Queensland's emerging urban water issues. It is a A$50 million partnership over five years between: the Queensland State Government CSIRO The University of Queensland, Brisbane Griffith University, Brisbane. As one of the largest regional urban water research programs in Australia, the Urban Water Security Research Alliance focuses on water security and recycling. The Alliance has also aligned research where appropriate with other water research programs such as those of: SEQ water utilities; the Australian Water Recycling Centre of Excellence; Water Quality Research Australia; the Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA); and Cooperative Research Centres. The program has brought new research capacity to SEQ, tailored to addressing current and anticipated future risks, assumptions and uncertainties facing water supply strategy. The outcomes of the research conducted by the Alliance partners have the potential to contribute to urban water knowledge in all regions of Australia. Answering the big questions Research for the Alliance has been delivered under three research themes: alternative supply sources such as rainwater and stormwater, water use efficiency and demand management behavioural measures to reduce demand on the SEQ Water Grid; the nature and level of risk to human health from a range of source waters within the SEQ; and enhanced management efficiencies and integrated water planning and management to transform to a smart water region.   Reports and publications of the Urban Water Security Research Alliance: The Alliance has produced hundreds of publications with associated data including: UWSRA Technical Reports UWSRA Journal Papers UWSRA Conference Papers and Fact Sheets Annual Reports The data relating to these publications will be accessible via the data repositories of the contributing organisations with links provided through Research Data Australia.
