Lab 2, Woodlot Dataset, adult vs. sapling

Adult Maple trees were located by their distinctive leaves and their diameter breast heigh was taken. Then the nearest sapling was located and it's diameter breast height was measured followed by measurement of the distance between the two trees. Then the adult tree's percent canopy coverage was estimated by looking up at the tree's leaves through four fingers in the shape of a square. This experiemnt took place in a woodlot on York University Campus on Thursday, September 24 between 4:50 - 5:30 p.m, N=20.
