Geological sections at the ground mechanical map Ghent

The ground-mechanical maps were drawn up by the Ghent University’s Ground Mechanical Cartering Centre and the Working Group or Commission for Ground-Mechantering (several authors) and issued under the auspices of the National Institute for Land mechanics. Quote from the explanatory texts accompanying the ground mechanical maps: “The ground-mechanical maps meet a need for a summary representation of those components of the geological environment which play a role in land use and influence the design, construction and maintenance of construction works. However, the data provided should not be given absolute accuracy because of the interpolations made when they were prepared. The maps shall provide information on the general geological and soil mechanical condition of the substrate as derived from the tests available at the time of mapping. They are therefore only guiding documents and the authors cannot be held responsible for their possible uses. The ground-mechanical maps cannot under any circumstances exempt the user from carrying out additional tests on the basis of well-defined projects. "In order to illustrate the general structure of the carded area, a geological sign has been carried out. Their location is indicated on all the plates of the ground mechanical maps. The sections also indicate the ground mechanical areas.
