Die MaCS dient der quantitativen Messung von Craving bei unterschiedlichen Einzelsubstanzen, kombiniertem und/oder multiplem Substanzgebrauch. Sie besteht aus 12 Items und vier Zusatzitems. Reliabilität: In den klinischen Gruppen zeigten sich in Übereinstimmung mit der Stabilitätsprüfung gute Koeffizienten der internen Konsistenz (Alpha über .85). Die Retestkoeffizienten bewegten sich im Bereich von .45 < rtt < .68 (klinische Gruppe) bzw. rtt = .76 (nicht-klinische Gruppe). Validität: Es fanden sich erwartungskonforme, signifikante Unterschiede der MaCS-Scores im zeitlichen Verlauf und zwischen den Konsumgruppen. Der MaCS-Score korreliert erwartungskonform und hochsignifikant mit den Validitätskriterien: Mit der Stärke des Craving (Analogskala) zu r = .56, mit dem maximalen Craving (Analogskala) zu r = .59, mit der Häufigkeit des Craving (Analogskala) zu r = .54; mit der Abstinenzzeit (Tage) zu r = -.23; mit der Entzugssymptomatik (RS-EMS) zu r = .56, ohne substanzielle Unterschiede zwischen den Konsumgruppen oder Therapieeinheiten. Normen: Auf Basis des Vergleichs der klinischen Stichprobe (N = 292) mit der nichtklinischen Stichprobe (N = 616) erfolgte eine erste Normierung und Berechnung von Cut-off-Werten.
