Three patients in the inpatient cohort could not be classified. ‘Not suspected’: deemed by the clinician as non-compatible with COVID-19 disease or were diagnosed with another acute disease; ‘Not excluded’: no other diagnosis recorded explaining their current symptoms, and COVID-19 disease could not be excluded. ‘High suspicion’: physician in charge of the treatment recorded the suspicion on clinical grounds to the electronic patient record, OR the patient fulfilled a set of pre-defined clinical and exposure criteria (see Methods); ‘Laboratory confirmed’: tested positive from the first sample taken or with repeated testing with SARS-CoV-2 RT-PCR.
