LAFCo Special Districts - Current Boundaries

Special districts provide important services throughout the State, even if you live in a city. If you live in an unincorporated area, you probably receive a number of vital services such as fire protection, water service, sewer service, and other services from districts established to provide those services. Districts are either dependent (governed by the County Board of Supervisors or a city council) or indenpendent (governed by a locally-elected board of directors, or a separate board appointed for a fixed term). They are "special" because they provide services to areas that require special services above and beyond the regional services typically provided by the County.特别区（special districts）可在全州范围内提供重要公共服务，即便您居住在城市区域亦不例外。若您身处非建制地区，则大概率可获得消防保障、供水服务、污水处理服务等多项关键公共服务，以及其他由专门设立的专项区提供的对应服务。此类专项区分为两类：依附型（由县监督委员会或市议会管辖）与独立型（由当地选举产生的董事会，或任期固定的专门委任董事会管辖）。它们之所以被冠以“专项区”之名，是因为其服务覆盖区域所需的公共服务，超出了县常规提供的区域公共服务范畴。
