Establishment and Resilience of Transplanted Gut Microbiota in Aged Mice

We systematically investigated the restoration of gut microbiome following antibiotics treatment in aged hosts. We demonstrated that transplanted microbiota could successfully establish in the host and accelerate the recovery of microbiota diversity.We studied the long-term effects of FMT on gut microbiota and colon gene expression in aged hosts.We evaluated the long-term maintenance of transplanted microbiota via intentional disruption of the gut homeostasis. We found that age unmatching between FMT donors and recipients may decrease the resilience of transplanted gut microbiota against colonic inflammation.
