This project focuses on the whole genome sequencing of bacterial isolates obtained from the epiphytic and endophytic microbiomes of apples. The study aims to investigate the genetic basis of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) within these bacterial communities, identifying resistance genes present in chromosomal and mobile genetic elements. By characterizing the resistome of these plant-associated bacteria, this research contributes to understanding the potential role of the plant microbiome in disseminating antibiotic resistance and its implications for food safety and public health.
