This study investigates the impacts of simulated climate warming and oxidative stress on freshwater microbial communities in a freshwater reservoir in New Zealand. Using metagenomic analysis, we examined microbial responses to short-term temperature increases (22°C, 24°C, 27°C) and additional oxidative stress treatments. Results reveal significant shifts in microbial community structure, including increased cyanobacterial abundance and antibiotic resistance gene proliferation under warming conditions. These findings highlight the potential synergistic effects of temperature and oxidative stress on water quality and public health, emphasizing the need for targeted management strategies in freshwater ecosystems under climate change scenarios.
